I spent a morning with one of my favorite families as they prepared to let the world know the best news!! Might I suggest that even if you don't have a big announcement to make...NOW is the time to do a fun family lifestyle session. Even if you think your house is not clean enough. Even if you think your kids are in an awkward "not photo-ready" phase because they just got braces on or accidentally on purpose cut their own bangs. Even if you think YOU yourself are in an awkward phase. Ignore the impulse to push off this type of session. These are the days and moments that your children will one day thank you for documenting. And not just from your cell phone and posted to a social media platform that may or may not exist when your children are grown. Book the session. Print the photos. Give your kids something tangible to remember their one and only childhood. As important as it is to document special occasions or capture a timeless image for a Christmas card...it is equally important to capture the every day magic that some day might escape your memory. Even though you think it will always be fresh in your mind, I promise you it won't. You might forget the way your one year old could pull himself up onto a kitchen stool all by himself. One day, when your daughter is grown...you will want to remember the way it felt to have your little girl sit in your lap and play with your necklace. Before your teenage son is off at college, you will want to remember how he doted on his baby brother and scooped him up and put him into his high chair to feed him without you even having to ask. Let me help preserve these fleeting and precious memories for you.
